CV / PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Janet Novás, Galician dancer and creator, has lived in Madrid since 2001. In 2008, she began developing her own projects, opening the door to experimentation and self-research. Her work is built from observation, experience, and dialogue with her body as her main tool, committing to a personal language that shapes the emotional content and aesthetic simplicity that characterise her pieces.
Her creations have been presented at prestigious national and international festivals such as Rencontres Chorégraphiques, Festival de Otoño a Primavera, Escenas do Cambio, Festival de Marseille, Festival Nouvelles – Pole Sud, Cement Festival, Dança em Trânsito, MOV_S, TNT Dansa, Mes de Danza Sevilla, and the 25th Festival de Madrid en Danza, among others.
DESCRIPTION / OBJECTIVES
The Dance Department of DANTZERTI has invited Janet Novás to offer students, through this workshop, a different perspective on contemporary dance technique through the personal style of this Galician dancer and creator.
“My classes are designed to get the highest possible performance from our bodies, to respond to their needs in harmony with everything around them.
The physical training I propose is based on the repetition of small exercises. These will give us a more conscious understanding of our bone and muscular structure, as well as their proper use. We will work on speed, precision, different qualities, space–time, and stamina. How to be more effective with less effort, how to recycle our energy and impulses.
The final goal of the class is to combine all this knowledge, understanding how our body orders and disorders itself in space. This will allow us to free ourselves and enjoy movement as a language of expression.
The driving force of my classes is the pleasure of moving, of understanding and discovering my body.”
