Process descriptionThe approach during the four sessions was the following: Day 1: Basic concepts in labannotation. Symbols and scores. How to interpret scores in terms of body and space. Day 2: Labanotation. The Duration of the movement in the scores. Creation practice from scores. Day 3: Space. Review of the icosahedron, the planes, and introducing it as a choreographic tool in the piece Aspects. Day 4: Continuation of the previous session. Creation practice from space.
Short biography
Almudena is a Basque/Spanish dance artist and yoga teacher currently based in Bilbao. She trained at the Real Conservatorio Profesional de Danza Mariemma in Contemporary Dance in Madrid. She later earned a First Class Bachelor in Arts (Honours) in Contemporary Dance from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Besides, she trained as a multi-style Yoga teacher, becoming a 500H RYT, and she also holds a degree in English Studies. She has worked with several artists involving different practices. She has been a dancer in pieces by choreographers Pedro Berdäyes, Lizzi Kew-Ross, Amanda Gough, Wayne Mc Gregor, Stephanie Schoeber, Poliana Lima and Jon Ugarriza, among others. Besides, she was able to take part in interdisciplinary projects including Music and Visual Arts, such as Soundpainting. Currently, she develops her own choreographic practice. Her choreographic practice is informed by concepts that come from diverse fields such as Literature, Semiotics or other Arts. Her interest is placed on the creative process as an investigative practice. Her work has been supported by The Basque Government in several occasions, and by other Performing Arts institutions, such as Harrobia- Centre for Performance Innovation and Production of Bilbao and Bilbao City Council. Moreover, her work has been selected in various festivals such as ACT Festival, Festival Blv-Art, Tribe International Art Festival, BBK Off Festival, Sismoffgraf, AurreraFest and Gau Irekia.
